Love Life Images :: Stephen's Blog bio picture

Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. My family would often forget to develop our film after vacations, but months later we were always excited and surprised to see what came back when we finally got our pictures developed. With the advent of digital cameras, the images come much quicker, but the excitement is still there.

I'm often awed by the power of story-telling images in various genres of photography. To me, the most powerful images make you feel what it's like to "be there." I strive to capture this in my wedding images. I feel so honored to document people's memories, knowing that pictures are such an important part of familial history and storytelling. It is a hefty responsibility, and one I do not take lightly. In fact, I know this is what I am meant to do.

When I'm not shooting weddings, portraits or corporate events, you can usually still find me with a camera in my hand - taking pictures of my beautiful family - my wife Carolyn, our son Ryan, and three dogs Jingles, Cooley and Cooper. I'm a photographer and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Brooke & Alex :: A Wedding at the Hotel Monaco

Happy New Year! Now that I’ve filled up on holiday treats and egg nog, I am happy to get back to blogging. I’ve been anxious to share Brooke and Alex’s December wedding at the Hotel Monaco in DC. They had a meaningful ceremony performed by Alex’s grandfather and a great party afterwards. Here are some of my favorites.

Sarah & Andrew :: A Reception at the Savage Mill Great Room

I’ve often said that one of the reasons I love being a photographer is because you get to know so many wonderful people and families, and sometimes you get to work with them over and over again. Sarah and Andy’s wedding was a “repeat” family of sorts, but with a little extra twist. Sarah’s sister Jamie married Andy’s brother Matt several years ago and I was fortunate to capture their super fun wedding. They joked during introductions that Sarah always had to copy her big sister, and now she’s gone as far as to copy her last name!

I’m so happy that they are all one big happy family now. I knew from Jamie and Matt’s wedding that this was going to be an awesome dancing crowd and I was not disappointed! Everyone had a great time at the Great Room in Savage Mill (where our studio happens to be located)!

Caitrin & John :: A Wedding at the American Visionary Arts Museum (AVAM)

Caitrin and John had a phenomenal wedding at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore, MD! It’s a fabulous wedding venue with endless photo opportunities. It was a perfect venue for Caitrin and John’s wedding. Everything was top notch and guests were treated to a late night snack of popcorn and candy apples! Yum!
